A Ni-decorated p-type silicon photocathode was developed for photoelectrochemical dicarboxylation of styrene with CO2 to synthesize phenylsuccinic acid. A high Faradaic efficiency of 77.7% for phenylsuccinic acid is achieved at −2.4 V vs. Ag/AgCl.
