European bioeconomy investor ECBF VC has opened an office in Paris and launched a new brand identity as it positions itself for the next phase of growth.

The move reflects France’s rise as one of Europe’s strongest deeptech ecosystems. The country now hosts world-class research institutions, industrial leaders and a maturing venture capital landscape.

ECBF already backs four French companies in its portfolio: Elicit Plant, ecoat, RED Horticulture and Weenat. These firms work across sustainable agriculture, bio-based materials and climate technologies.

The Paris office formalizes the fund’s commitment to France. ECBF plans to deepen collaboration with French venture partners, industrial players and research institutions while strengthening deal sourcing.

“France has evolved into one of Europe’s most dynamic bioeconomy ecosystems,” said Stéphane Roussel, Partner at ECBF, who will lead the Paris office with Guillaume Gras and Charlotte Rossignol. “Our ambition is to deepen our activities in France and actively contribute to building a stronger and more connected bioeconomy investment ecosystem.”

ECBF has invested in 25 companies since launch across food systems, industrial biotechnology, bio-based materials and circular value chains. The fund combines sector expertise with hands-on portfolio support to help companies scale.

The rebrand includes a redesigned logo, website and communication framework. The new identity positions ECBF as “The specialist VC for a regenerative economy.”

“We are not a generalist impact fund,” said Michael Brandkamp, General Partner of ECBF. “We are a specialist VC dedicated exclusively to the bioeconomy. Europe’s industrial transformation requires focused capital, scientific understanding and long-term conviction.”

The expansion comes as the bioeconomy shifts from niche to strategic priority across Europe. ECBF sees growing demand for specialist capital that can bridge science, industry and scalable business models.
