A defect-engineered Cu2−xTe-CTAB anode with enhanced structural stability suppresses dendrite formation and side reactions, delivering 188.5 mAh g−1 after 100 cycles. The full battery provides 187.5 Wh kg−1 and 20 000-cycle lifespan.
