Logistics giant DHL Group announced that it has signed a new agreement with solar technology company LONGi to advance the deployment of renewable energy solutions and expand collaboration on sustainable logistics.

Founded in 2000, China-based-LONGi develops high-efficiency solar wafers, cells, modules and integrated photovoltaic solutions, with a focus on advancing solar energy technologies.

Under the new MoU, the companies plan to establish a strategic collaboration focused on accelerating the adoption of distributed solar solutions, including LONGi’s Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) technology, across DHL facilities in Europe. The solutions are based on high-efficiency back contact technology designed to maximize energy yield on large commercial rooftops while ensuring long-term operational reliability, the companies said.

Alex Li, General Manager of Western Europe at LONGi, said:

“As a globally leading integrated solar and storage company, we advance high-efficiency technologies and system solutions designed for complex commercial and industrial environments. The partnership with DHL provides a strong platform to scale these solutions globally, supporting DHL’s sustainability journey.”

Key areas of collaboration are expected to include deploying solar technologies across DHL’s logistics infrastructure, co-developing solar-plus-storage solutions for logistics applications, exploring renewable hydrogen and next-generation opportunities, and piloting new clean energy technologies initiatives across DHL’s global network. The partnership will also expand DHL’s logistics capabilities to support the global deployment of LONGi’s renewable energy products and establish close senior executive collaboration to evaluate progress and identify emerging opportunities.

The companies said that the new partnership will also identify additional opportunities that support DHL Group’s corporate strategy to become the “green logistics of choice” and LONGi’s mission to “make the best of solar energy to build a green world”.

The new collaboration follows the release of plans earlier this year by DHL to strengthen its capabilities and presence in the New Energy sector, focused on serving the value chain in areas related to electrification and the energy transition. Citing strong customer demand for its services in the sector, and noting the backdrop of fossil fuel supply disruptions, DHL has said that it sees an opportunity to grow its revenue in New Energy logistics to €3 billion by 2030, from approximately €600 million in 2025.

Michael Wiedemann, President Energy Sector, DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation, said:

“Our collaboration with LONGi reflects how renewable-energy innovation and global logistics excellence can reinforce each other. Alongside deploying LONGi’s solar technologies across our operations, we are supporting their global expansion with integrated services that help bring their solutions to market faster.”
