Domtar recently completed the sale of its shares in Engineered Absorbent Materials (EAM) to Saothair Capital Partners, a private equity firm that invests in middle-market manufacturing and industrial companies.
Located in Jesup, Ga., EAM develops, designs and manufactures non-woven air-laid and laminated absorbent materials for use in feminine hygiene, adult incontinence, baby diaper, medical, industrial and food packaging applications.
Saothair indicated it intends to continue operating the site and maintaining relationships with EAM’s existing employees, customers, suppliers and community. For example, general manager (GM) Vanecia Carr will serve as CEO and Lori Venn will serve as senior vice-president (SVP) of sales and marketing.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Domtar says it has been working closely with Saothair and the EAM management team to support a smooth transition.
“We are transforming Domtar with purpose and focus,” says Steve Henry, Domtar’s president for the U.S. and CEO of paper and packaging. “This sale supports that work and helps position EAM for the future. I thank the employees for their dedication and hard work. We are confident Saothair is an excellent fit moving forward.”
