India registered 2,07,385 electric two-wheelers in September, making it one of the strongest months the segment has ever seen. Compared with September 2025, registrations jumped by 88.7%, while sales were also up 12.3% compared with August 2026.
And the interesting part is not just the overall number.
The competition at the top is getting seriously intense.
TVS Motor continues to lead the market, but Bajaj Auto is getting closer, while Ather and Hero are also putting up strong numbers. Ola Electric, meanwhile, continues to remain under pressure.
Overall, electric two-wheelers accounted for 11.6% of all two-wheelers registered in India in September, compared with 8.2% a year ago. From January to September 2026, India has already registered more than 15.70 lakh electric two-wheelers.
So, let’s look at how each major electric two-wheeler company performed in September 2026.
Electric Two-Wheeler Sales – September 2026
| Manufacturer | September 2026 Sales |
|---|---|
| TVS Motor | 54,057 units |
| Bajaj Auto | 48,444 units |

#1 TVS Motor – 54,057 Units
TVS Motor is once again sitting at the top of the electric two-wheeler market, and September was another excellent month for the company.
TVS registered 54,057 electric two-wheelers in September, giving it a 26.1% share of the electric two-wheeler market.
The company also grew 9.7% over August and a massive 126% compared with September last year.
That is a pretty big jump.
TVS has now built a strong presence in the EV market, and its electric scooter portfolio continues to bring in large volumes.
The biggest thing for TVS right now is consistency. The company has managed to stay at the top even as competition from Bajaj, Ather and other players keeps getting stronger.
And with more customers becoming comfortable with electric scooters, TVS looks set to remain one of the biggest names in this market.
#2 Bajaj Auto – 48,444 Units
Bajaj Auto is getting closer and closer to TVS.
The company registered 48,444 electric two-wheelers in September, giving Bajaj a 23.4% market share.
Compared with August, Bajaj grew by 17.2%, while year-on-year growth stood at an impressive 138.9%.
That is a huge improvement.
The gap between TVS and Bajaj was only 5,613 units in September.
The Bajaj Chetak continues to be the main driver of the company’s electric two-wheeler business, and the numbers show that Chetak is finding buyers across different parts of India.
One more interesting number here is that around 29.2% of Bajaj Auto’s own two-wheeler registrations in September were electric.
That shows just how important the EV business is becoming for Bajaj.
#3 Ather Energy – 30,550 Units
Ather Energy also had a very good September.
The company registered 30,550 electric two-wheelers, taking its market share to 14.7%.
Ather grew 5.1% month-on-month and 55.7% year-on-year.
Ather has always had a strong position in the premium electric scooter space, and these numbers show that the brand continues to attract buyers despite the much tougher competition today.
The important thing for Ather is that it is still comfortably ahead of several other major players.
With its electric scooter portfolio and expanding presence across India, Ather remains one of the key companies to watch in this segment.
#4 Hero MotoCorp (Vida) – 24,325 Units
Vida by Hero MotoCorp is quietly becoming a much bigger player in the electric two-wheeler market.
In September, Hero registered 24,325 electric two-wheelers, giving it an 11.7% market share.
The company grew by 27.1% over August and 83.3% year-on-year.
That is a very healthy growth rate.
What makes this more interesting is the pace at which Vida is moving up. Hero already has one of the strongest two-wheeler networks in India, and that gives its EV business a major advantage when it comes to reaching customers in different cities and towns.
September was another strong month for Vida, and the brand is slowly becoming a serious competitor in India’s electric scooter market.
#5 Ola Electric – 13,451 Units
Ola Electric’s September numbers tell a very different story.
The company registered 13,451 electric two-wheelers, with a market share of 6.5%.
Unlike most of the leading companies, Ola saw its registrations decline in September, falling 3.5% from August and 3% year-on-year.
This is quite a contrast to TVS and Bajaj, which recorded very strong growth during the same month.
Ola still has strong brand recognition in India’s EV market, but the latest registration numbers show that competition has become much tougher.
The company now has established manufacturers like TVS, Bajaj and Hero fighting aggressively for the same electric scooter customer.
For Ola, the next few months will be important.
#6 Greaves Electric Mobility – 9,317 Units
Greaves Electric Mobility may not get as much attention as TVS, Bajaj or Ola, but the company is steadily building its presence.
Greaves registered 9,317 electric two-wheelers in September, with a market share of around 4.5%.
The company recorded 8% month-on-month growth and an impressive 114.1% year-on-year increase.
That is encouraging growth.
Greaves is still much smaller than the top players, but its steady improvement shows that there is room in India’s EV market for multiple brands.
As electric scooters become more common in smaller cities and regional markets, companies like Greaves could continue to find new customers.
