A bespoke P Zero R ultra-high-performance tire has been developed by Pirelli specifically for the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+, the first official FIA Formula 1 safety car equipped with fully variable all-wheel drive.
The tire has been designed to deliver dry-weather grip and precise steering response while maintaining handling in wet conditions during safety car deployments, the tire maker said.
The tire’s dry- and wet-weather performance comes from a dual-compound tread and a pattern developed using virtualization to suit the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+.
Co-developed with Mercedes-AMG engineers in Affalterbach, the P Zero R was refined using Pirelli’s virtual simulation models.
