If you were in a rock ’n’ roll mood on opening day of Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, you likely enjoyed New Holland’s announcement that morning.

With flashing lights and AC/DC blasting over a sound system, New Holland introduced the latest tractor in its T7 series, the XD, to the farming public.

“This is a brand new T7 tractor,” said J.E. Cadle, New Holland’s T7 marketing manager for North America, “so we extended that T7 lineup to what we’re calling a T7 XD.”

WHY IT MATTERS: The XDs are the highest-horsepower tractors in New Holland’s T7 series lineup.

Three new models make up New Holland’s T7 tractor lineup, which deliver more horsepower for operators.

The T7.360 model has 360 hp, the T7.390 model has 390 hp and the T7.440 model tops off at 435 hp.

While the Auto Command CVT transmissions are similar to New Holland’s existing T7 tractors, they were redesigned to handle the extra power in the new XD series.

“It’s been beefed up to handle this extra horsepower,” said Cadle. “So, it’s a bigger, more robust version of that transmission.”

The new XD models are powered by an 8.7-litre Cursor 9 engine, which pushes it to a top speed of 60 km/h.

Cadle added that it’s the same engine found in the brand’s T8 tractor line, but with a constant power curve.

“We’re giving you that full power all the time, so you always have that power,” said Cadle. “Then your transmission is what’s going to do some of that lugging and changing around for you.”

Comfort behind the wheel

Suspension improvements also make it easier to be behind the wheel of the new T7 XDs for longer hours.

The new T7 XD tractors come standard with an independent, double wishbone front suspension and the cab suspension got an upgrade.

Operators have the option of an advanced vehicle suspension that automatically ties front suspension activity to the cab’s hydraulic suspension based on road conditions.

“It’s designed to keep that cab steady,” added Cadle. “Everything else moves underneath it.”

A fully-integrated central tire inflation system is also available in the new XD lineup, allowing operators to increase tire air pressure for more efficient road speeds or to release pressure for better traction in the field and reduce compaction.

Cosmetically, the new T7 XDs feature a redesigned hood and the added touch of New Holland’s leaf design integrated into the taillights.

Availability

New Holland’s T7 XD tractors for the 2027 model year also come with a three-year, 3,000-hour warranty.

“We’re giving you three years of factory warranty, but we’re also covering all the maintenance costs,” added Cadle. “So, whenever there’s an oil change needed, a filter change needed, any kind of extra service needed, that’s going to happen on this tractor.”

Cadle added that New Holland FieldOps connectivity comes standard on the new XD series tractors.

The new T7 XD series tractors are available now to order from dealers, with shipping beginning early in the new year.
