Brian and Sarah Williams’ father-daughter giant pumpkin-growing competition, held yearly on their farm, culminated this year with a “Vikings versus Pirates” pumpkin race on the Thames River west of Chatham, Oct. 24.
Friends and family were invited to donate “wagers” to T.J. Stables’ “Acceptional” Riders program. The “Viking” won, but cheating allegations prompted the “Pirate” to impose a pumpkin-pie-to-the-face interference penalty.
