ÄIO and tilk! unveil award-shortlisted cream

Estonian biotech company ÄIO and natural skincare brand tilk! have launched a new Skin Booster Face Cream. It combines two fermentation-derived cosmetic ingredients, Fermira™ RedOil and ZymaLipid Complex, in a single formulation. The product went on sale on 8 September 2026.

The cream has already been shortlisted for the European Natural Beauty Awards 2026, an international recognition programme for natural cosmetics.

It is the second commercial product to come from the ÄIO and tilk! partnership. Their first, the Skin Booster Serum with ÄIO Bio-Fermented RedOil, launched in April 2026. Its first production batch sold out within a week.

The new formulation blends RedOil and ZymaLipid Complex with bakuchiol and plant oils. RedOil is a fermentation-derived emollient rich in naturally occurring carotenoids and other bioactive compounds. ZymaLipid Complex is a high-purity fatty acid complex that adds emollience, structure and sensory qualities to skincare formulas. Together, they are designed to support hydration, elasticity and skin barrier health in a lightweight, fast-absorbing cream.

The collaboration between the two companies dates back years, long before their first product reached shelves. tilk! was among the earliest brands to formulate with RedOil while the ingredient was still in development. tilk! founder and chief executive Pille Lengi has said the process demanded patience, since only small quantities of the oil were initially available for testing. She has described working closely with scientists as essential to building something genuinely new.

ÄIO chief executive and co-founder Nemailla Bonturi has said success for a biotech company means seeing partners formulate and manufacture with its ingredients. She noted that two ÄIO ingredients now sit in one award-recognised cream, which makes the years of development feel worthwhile.
