Improving Home Comfort for Veterans with AeroBarrier

Veterans deserve homes that support stability, dignity, and comfort. That belief inspired the creation of Veteran Village, a dedicated multi-unit housing community in Minnesota for veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. A recent ribbon cutting marked the official opening of the Village, giving partners and community members a chance to see this commitment take shape.
Veteran Village came together through a partnership led by the Housing First Minnesota Foundation, the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) and homebuilder Lennar. The project sought to create a community where veterans could rely on homes that support long-term stability. From the start, the team prioritized making the homes healthy, efficient, and performance-focused.

For veterans regaining constancy, as many in this program, having a home that maintains a steady, comfortable environment makes everyday life more manageable. To meet that goal, the project team looked for practical ways to ensure each home would perform well from the start. That meant reducing drafts, minimizing energy loss, and creating tighter building envelopes that support predictable heating and cooling throughout the year. As part of that effort, Lennar tapped AeroBarrier to help seal air leaks and reach their targeted airtightness levels.
How AeroBarrier Supports Long-Term Comfort
A tighter building envelope helps keep heating and cooling needs more predictable throughout the year. For veterans who have spent years moving between temporary housing or living in unstable environments, reliably comfortable surroundings and manageable energy bills are small changes that make a big difference.
That is a large part of why Lennar used AeroBarrier by Aeroseal to help ensure the homes performed with comfort and efficiency in mind. AeroBarrier is an automated air sealing technology applied during the drywall phase. The building is pressurized, and a fog of nontoxic sealant is released to seal gaps throughout the envelope. This process allows the builder to reach targeted airtightness levels, reducing drafts and energy loss while supporting a more efficient home overall.
With rising energy costs affecting low to middle income earners disproportionately, the veterans who will call these homes theirs, will also benefit from lower monthly energy use and fewer drafts through Minnesota’s changing weather.
A Community Celebration and a Meaningful Milestone
The ribbon cutting at Veteran Village brought partners, supporters, and community members together to mark the opening of this new housing community. Representatives from Housing First Minnesota Foundation, Lennar, MACV, and local organizations gathered on site to recognize the years of planning, coordination, and hands-on work that made the project possible. The event highlighted the collective effort behind the Village and offered a chance for attendees to walk through the homes, meet partners, and see the finished community firsthand. The Foundation noted that the Village will support veterans and their families for generations, reflecting the lasting nature of this investment. Veteran Village shows what is possible when thoughtful construction and community commitment come together. It offers veterans a place where comfort, health, and affordability are supported by the way the homes are built. And as more residents move in, the benefits of those choices will play out in everyday life: steady indoor temperatures, more predictable monthly costs, and homes that feel ready to support whatever comes next. While just one part of a much larger effort, Aeroseal was proud to have a role in ensuring the homes stay efficient and comfortable long after move-in.

The ribbon cutting may mark the completion of construction, but the true story begins now, as these homes become part of the long-term stability veterans deserve.
