Balkrishna Industries (BKT) and Pirelli have signed a strategic agreement to develop opportunities in India’s growing car tire market, where car registrations are forecast to increase by 5-7% annually between 2025 and 2030 alongside significant growth in the premium tire segment.
Arvind Poddar, chairman and managing director of BKT, said, “This partnership brings together complementary strengths to capture the opportunities of a growing market while creating value for both companies.”
The initial phase will see BKT produce up to 800,000 Pirelli-branded tires by 2030 at one of its new plants. Production will follow Pirelli’s technological and quality standards, combining the Italian manufacturer’s premium tire expertise with BKT’s local manufacturing capabilities and market presence.
