For the 21st year in a row, China led globally in beer consumption while Asia also ranked first on a regional basis.

Interestingly, despite these impressive figures, per capita beer consumption in China doesn’t even crack into the top 35 globally. This highlights how the country’s vast consumer market, even with low average consumption volumes, create a powerful engine for its beer industry.

Today, China Resources Snow Breweries stands as the third-largest beer producer globally, after AB InBev and Heineken.

Overall, Americans consumed about half as much as the Chinese market, ranking in a distant second. This totaled 21.4 million kiloliters of beer, with the U.S. ranking 27th globally on a per capita basis.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s beer market was fueled by sales of Skol and Brahma. Between 2022 and 2023, Brazil’s share of the global market increased from 7.8% to 8.1%, equaling 15.1 million kiloliters of beer in total.
