Geneva, 16 July 2025 – The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) has today announced the 2025 Transition Leaders’ Awards. This programme that recognises excellence, innovation, and impact in the shift to a sustainable, circular, and bio-based global economy.
.
Following a successful pilot in 2024, the Awards return with expanded categories, a broader call for nominations, and a focus on scaling real-world solutions that support a just transition.
.
“Our 2024 pilot revealed an exciting truth: there is already a vibrant ecosystem of Transition Leaders around the world, from global brands to grassroots innovators, doing the hard, necessary work to shift the system,” said Elena Schmidt, Executive Director of RSB. “In 2025, we’re scaling the platform they deserve.”
.
The 2025 edition, sponsored by Airbus, includes five core award categories. These span fuels, materials, and procurement leadership, as well as social justice and early-stage innovation. A special individual leadership award will also be presented.

Finalists will be selected through a rigorous shortlisting process, followed by a member-wide vote led by RSB’s global multi-stakeholder community — ensuring that winners reflect a truly inclusive, consensus-based definition of sustainability leadership.
.
“Airbus is delighted to be supporting the RSB Transition Leaders’ Awards 2025 to recognise those leading the way in innovation, decarbonisation and creating a more circular economy – in aviation, and beyond,” said Julie Kitcher, Chief Sustainability Officer and Communications at Airbus. “Let’s put the spotlight on those who are taking action and pushing for a sustainable future with conviction and boldness – the time for action is now!”
.
Winners will be selected through a rigorous shortlisting and voting process, led by RSB’s multi-stakeholder membership. Finalists will be celebrated at the Transition Leaders’ Gala Dinner in Geneva on 9 December 2025, with a public panel hosted by Airbus the following day at the RSB Annual Conference.
Nominations open on 23 July.
