The world can no longer afford to rely on promises. The RSB Annual Conference 2025 will bring together leaders, innovators, and decision-makers to confront the failures of Plan A and map out the credible, actionable pathways that define Plan B

Across three days, the conference agenda is built to accelerate action: from technical workshops to strategic debates, from celebrating leadership to setting governance direction. Below, we share an overview of what’s planned, with a reminder that we will publish a technical deep-dive of the sessions on the Flagship Day closer to the event.

TUESDAY, 9 DECEMBER – COLLABORATION DAY

📍 International Environment House II, Geneva

Collaboration Day is about testing ideas, advancing implementation, and aligning the RSB community around what it takes to move from ambition to credible delivery. Each stream addresses a different pressure point in the transition:

  • Book & Claim: From introductory sessions to advanced applications in maritime, aviation, and heavy industry, these workshops focus on how to expand traceability and credibility across hard-to-abate sectors.
  • Feedstocks: Looking at risk, ILUC (indirect land use change), and innovation, this track explores how to diversify feedstocks beyond UCO and align production with social and environmental value.
  • Chemicals & materials: Deep dives into sustainable chemicals, plastics, and materials will unpack the opportunities to bring credibility to non-energy bioeconomy sectors.

Evening highlight: The RSB Transition Leaders’ Awards Gala Dinner, sponsored by Airbus, celebrating the individuals and organisations who are already building Plan B in practice. Nominate a leader or project for the Awards.

WEDNESDAY, 10 DECEMBER – FLAGSHIP DAY

📍 International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG)

Flagship Day is where the theme of Plan B takes centre stage. Through plenaries, showcases, and debates, participants will ask: If Plan A failed, what’s next?

Highlights include:

  • Opening keynote: Under the title, Facing the Failures of Plan A, the opening keynote will acknowledge where ambition fell short and setting the stage for a new strategy grounded in credibility.
  • Sustainability Leaders Roundtable: Senior leaders discuss how to deliver strategy under pressure, when policy falters and expectations only rise.
  • Panel: From Plan A to Plan B: Here, we will provide a candid reflection on what has failed, what didn’t, and how to course-correct.
  • Showcases
    • SAF producers: Lessons from delivering progress despite market and policy headwinds.
    • Impact Claims: How verified sustainability claims can close the green premium gap and strengthen business cases.
  • Panel: Keeping Power-to-X on the Agenda: Making the case for future fuels even as policy and finance conditions shift.
  • Showcase: Chemicals & Materials: New opportunities and challenges in building credible pathways in these critical sectors.
  • Transition Leaders’ Awards Winners’ Panel: Presented by Airbus, award recipients share how they are driving systemic change and turning ambition into results.
  • Panel: Sustainable Feedstock at Scale: Moving beyond UCO to invest in diverse, regionally grounded feedstocks with strong social and environmental outcomes.
  • Showcase: Book & Claim: Real-world impact in chemicals, shipping, and steel, proving how new systems can drive decarbonisation.

The day closes with a networking reception, offering the time and space to connect with peers and partners.

THURSDAY, 11 DECEMBER – ASSEMBLY OF DELEGATES

The conference culminates with the RSB Assembly of Delegates, RSB’s highest decision-making forum. Here, members will take part in consensus-based governance to ensure RSB standards remain robust tools for real-world impact.

This year’s guiding question: How can we ensure RSB standards support the delivery of Plan B?

Through this inclusive process, members will help define RSB’s strategy and governance for the years ahead.

Why it matters

The RSB Annual Conference 2025 is not just about discussion, it’s about charting a new course. Each session reflects the urgency of the theme: moving beyond promises to deliver systems, solutions, and leadership that can withstand political uncertainty, market pressures, and shifting priorities.

Register now to secure your place at the global gathering where Plan B is being written.
