NAVEE XT5 Pro Review
A Fast, Stable 31 MPH Scooter With Serious Tech

We ran NAVEE’s fastest single-motor scooter through our full test protocol: top speed, hill climbs, braking, real-world range. Here’s whether the XT5 Pro backs up the numbers on the spec sheet.

By Matt Kaye, Lead Tester|Full test results|9 min read

The NAVEE XT5 Pro is the single-motor model in NAVEE’s XT5 lineup, but don’t let “single motor” fool you into thinking this is a basic commuter scooter.

With a claimed 31 mph top speed, a 700W motor capable of reaching 2,200W peak output, a 596Wh battery, massive 12-inch tubeless tires, and suspension at both ends, the XT5 Pro lands in an increasingly interesting category between traditional commuters and much heavier dual-motor performance scooters.

NAVEE has also loaded it with premium features including traction control, proximity unlocking, turn signals, Apple Find My compatibility, strong water resistance, and support for an optional range-extending battery.

But the real question is how all of that translates to the road.

We tested the XT5 Pro for top speed, hill climbing, acceleration, braking, range, handling, stability, lighting, noise, weight, and more to find out.

NAVEE XT5 Pro: Quick Verdict

The XT5 Pro is one of those scooters that feels better the faster you ride it.

It reached its claimed 31 mph top speed, remained extremely stable near maximum speed, climbed our quarter-mile test hill in 48.81 seconds, and delivered dramatically stronger acceleration after switching into Boost mode. The huge 12-inch tires contribute heavily to that planted feeling, while the firm suspension keeps the chassis composed instead of floating around underneath you.

The biggest limitation is range when riding aggressively. In our maximum-performance range test with a 200 lb rider, the XT5 Pro delivered about 12.7 miles before performance became heavily restricted at 12% battery. That test was conducted largely in Boost mode at much higher speeds than NAVEE’s advertised range conditions, so slower riders should see significantly more.

At a measured 72.6 lb, it’s also heavier than we’d like, and at this level we would prefer hydraulic brakes and a brighter dashboard.

Overall, though, the XT5 Pro gets the important stuff right. It’s fast without feeling intimidating, extremely stable, packed with useful technology, and surprisingly refined for a scooter with more than 2,000W of peak power.

Hill Climb Test: 48.81 Seconds

Rear three-quarter view of the NAVEE XT5 Pro electric scooter

One of the quickest ways to expose a scooter’s real performance is to point it uphill.

Our Scooter Hill is roughly a quarter-mile long and steep enough that many scooters lose a significant amount of speed before reaching the top.

The XT5 Pro handled it well.

Speed quickly climbed through the teens before settling around 19 to 20 mph through much of the hill. It briefly reached 22 mph and completed the entire climb in 48.81 seconds.

That isn’t the fastest result we’ve ever recorded, but it’s strong performance from a single-motor scooter.

More importantly, power delivery remained consistent. It never felt like the XT5 Pro had a huge initial burst and then ran out of steam halfway up.

For a 700W nominal motor, the XT5 Pro makes very good use of its 2,200W peak output.

Tested Result

48.81 SEC

Acceleration: Boost Mode Completely Changes the Scooter

The XT5 Pro has a noticeably relaxed personality in normal Sport mode.

Our standard Sport-mode acceleration results were:

  • 0–10 mph: 3.70 seconds
  • 0–15 mph: 7.11 seconds
  • 0–20 mph: 12.25 seconds
  • 0–25 mph: 24.44 seconds
  • 1/8 mile: 24.62 seconds

Turn on Boost mode and the XT5 Pro becomes a very different scooter:

  • 0–10 mph: 2.51 seconds
  • 0–15 mph: 4.35 seconds
  • 0–20 mph: 6.94 seconds
  • 0–25 mph: 10.80 seconds
  • 0–30 mph: 18.17 seconds
  • 1/8 mile: 20.23 seconds

Boost shaved more than four seconds off the eighth-mile time and cut the 0–20 mph result almost in half.

One detail we especially like is that Boost stays active for the riding session.

You don’t need to hold a button down whenever you want maximum performance or constantly reactivate it.

Even with Boost enabled, acceleration remains smooth and predictable. Some performance scooters hit so aggressively off the line that inexperienced riders can get caught off guard.

The XT5 Pro isn’t like that.

It builds speed in a very linear way, which makes the scooter feel approachable even when it’s accelerating much harder.

Tested Result

6.94 SEC

Top Speed: Yes, It Actually Hits 31 MPH

NAVEE claims 31 mph, and we reached 31 mph during our testing.

More impressive than the number itself is how the XT5 Pro behaves once it gets there.

High-speed stability is excellent.

At 25 to 30+ mph, the chassis feels planted and predictable. There’s none of the nervous steering or wandering sensation that can make some smaller scooters feel uncomfortable at speed.

That makes the XT5 Pro’s top speed feel much more usable.

Plenty of scooters can reach around 30 mph. Far fewer make 30 mph feel this relaxed.

Huge 12-Inch Tires Are a Big Part of the Experience

Close-up of the NAVEE XT5 Pro's 12-inch tubeless front tire

The XT5 Pro uses 12-inch tubeless tires, which are enormous compared to what you’ll find on most electric scooters.

They make a noticeable difference.

The large diameter helps the scooter roll over smaller road imperfections more easily and contributes to the XT5 Pro’s excellent straight-line stability.

They’re also surprisingly fun when carving.

Despite the scooter’s 72+ lb weight, direction changes feel quick and predictable. There’s a nice balance between stability and responsiveness, rather than the XT5 Pro simply feeling like a heavy scooter that wants to travel in a straight line.

Our one complaint is the hybrid tread pattern.

At speeds approaching 30 mph, you can feel some vibration from the slightly knobby tires.

For riders spending virtually all their time on pavement, a smoother street tire could potentially make the XT5 Pro feel even more refined.

Suspension: Better for the City Than the Trail

Side view of the NAVEE XT5 Pro showing front and rear suspension

The XT5 Pro has front and rear spring suspension with adjustable preload.

Visually, it looks like it should be fairly plush.

In reality, the suspension is quite firm.

Even with a 200 lb rider, there isn’t a huge amount of suspension movement. That stiffness actually works well during faster street riding because the scooter stays composed and doesn’t bounce excessively when changing direction.

Once you head off pavement, however, the limitations become more obvious.

Gravel and grass are manageable, but the ride gets noticeably bouncier, and the XT5 Pro never develops the plush feeling of a purpose-built off-road scooter.

We’d consider this a high-performance urban scooter that can handle occasional rough terrain, rather than an off-road scooter.

Braking Performance Is Surprisingly Strong

The XT5 Pro uses front and rear mechanical disc brakes with 130 mm rotors.

At this price, we would prefer hydraulic brakes.

That said, the actual stopping performance is better than the hardware description might suggest.

Our 15 mph braking runs came in around 15 to 17 feet, with stopping times of approximately 1.63 to 1.65 seconds.

Electronic braking also plays an important role.

As the scooter slows through its final few miles per hour, the electronic braking force becomes much stronger and helps bring the XT5 Pro to a stop.

There’s also traction control, which adds another layer of confidence when traction conditions aren’t ideal.

The brakes work well.

We’d just like them to feel as premium as the rest of the scooter.

Real-World Range: 12.7 Miles Riding Hard

NAVEE XT5 Pro deck and ground clearance detail

NAVEE rates the XT5 Pro for up to 50 miles of range while riding at 15 mph.

Our test was designed to answer a different question:

How far can it go if you actually ride it like a 31 mph performance scooter?

Conditions were intentionally demanding.

We tested with:

  • A 200 lb rider
  • Boost mode
  • Roughly 20 to 25 mph average speeds
  • Around 95°F weather
  • Approximately 700 to 800 feet of elevation change
  • Minimal wind

At 12% battery, the XT5 Pro began heavily restricting performance.

On a slight 2% incline, maximum speed dropped to around 8 mph.

By that point, we had traveled 12.7 miles.

The scooter could technically continue riding beyond that. We estimate another couple of miles might have been possible at very low speeds.

But for practical purposes, 12.7 miles was the usable full-performance range in our test.

That doesn’t mean the 50-mile claim is impossible. Range changes dramatically with speed, rider weight, elevation, temperature, and riding style.

Someone cruising at 15 mph should get substantially more range.

But if you’re buying the XT5 Pro because it can go 31 mph and you plan to regularly use that performance, our result is much more relevant.

Expandable Battery Is a Very Smart Feature

One feature that could address the XT5 Pro’s biggest limitation is its optional expansion battery.

Instead of forcing every rider to carry the weight and cost of a larger battery pack, NAVEE gives you the option of increasing capacity later.

The additional battery can increase range by roughly 50%.

That makes the XT5 Pro unusually flexible.

For shorter rides, you can stick with the standard 596Wh battery. If your commute changes or you simply want more range, you have an upgrade path without buying a different scooter.

Charging: About 5 Hours or 1.5 Hours With the Fast Charger

Standard charging takes approximately five hours.

An optional fast charger can reduce that to around 1.5 hours.

That could be particularly useful for commuters who need to recharge between rides.

NAVEE Packed the XT5 Pro With Technology

NAVEE XT5 Pro cockpit and dashboard display

The XT5 Pro has an unusually strong feature list.

You get:

  • TCS traction control
  • NAVEE Fly Lock proximity unlocking
  • Apple Find My compatibility
  • Front headlight
  • Daytime running lights
  • Rear light
  • Handlebar turn signals
  • IPX6 water resistance
  • Optional range-extending battery

Fly Lock is one of those features that sounds minor until you live with it.

Once your phone is paired, the scooter can recognize when you’re nearby through Bluetooth, allowing you to walk up and unlock it without manually entering anything each time.

The XT5 Pro also supports Apple Find My, giving iPhone users another way to locate the scooter without paying for a separate GPS subscription.

Headlight Test: An Impressive 1,800 Lux

NAVEE XT5 Pro headlight lit up during testing

The XT5 Pro has one of the brighter headlights we’ve measured in this general category.

From six feet away, we recorded approximately 1,800 lux.

Many less-expensive electric scooters we test land closer to 800 or 900 lux.

The XT5 Pro is roughly double that.

That’s a meaningful upgrade if you regularly ride after dark rather than just a number to add to the spec sheet.

Motor Noise

The XT5 Pro is also impressively quiet.

We measured:

  • Eco mode: 50 dB
  • Sport + Boost: 62 dB
  • Bell: 74 dB

Even under maximum load, motor noise stays relatively low.

Weight: 72.6 Pounds

NAVEE XT5 Pro folding latch and frame detail

Our industrial scale measured the XT5 Pro at 72.6 lb.

That’s one of the biggest downsides.

This isn’t a scooter we’d recommend if your daily commute involves carrying it up multiple flights of stairs.

Some of the visual bulk also comes from the bodywork.

The core frame uses high-strength steel, while much of the wide outer body is made from plastic fairings. It gives the XT5 Pro an aggressive, almost motorcycle-inspired design, although the underlying chassis isn’t quite as large as the exterior dimensions initially suggest.

Whether that’s a positive or negative is mostly a matter of taste.

We think the XT5 Pro looks distinctive, but a slimmer design could potentially reduce some unnecessary size and weight.

NAVEE XT5 Pro Pros and Cons

Pros

Smooth, predictable power delivery. The XT5 Pro is quick without being intimidating. Boost gives it considerably stronger acceleration, but the power remains linear enough that newer riders should be able to adapt quickly.

Excellent high-speed stability. This may be the XT5 Pro’s biggest strength. The huge tires, long wheelbase, firm suspension, and overall chassis geometry make it feel extremely secure near 30 mph.

Strong single-motor hill climbing. A 48.81-second result on our quarter-mile hill is impressive performance for a single-motor scooter.

Huge 12-inch tires. They improve stability, rollover ability, and overall confidence on imperfect roads.

Excellent technology. Traction control, proximity unlocking, Find My compatibility, turn signals, strong lighting, IPX6 water resistance, fast-charging support, and expandable range give the XT5 Pro a very complete feature set.

Bright headlight. Our 1,800-lux measurement is excellent.

Expandable battery. Being able to increase range later is far better than discovering a year from now that your scooter simply doesn’t have enough battery for your needs.

Cons

The display could be brighter. The LCD provides the important information, including speed and remaining battery percentage, but visibility in strong sunlight could be better. At this price, a brighter TFT-style display would feel more appropriate.

Hydraulic brakes would be better. The mechanical brakes perform well, but hydraulic brakes would provide a more premium feel and better match the XT5 Pro’s performance.

It’s heavy. At 72.6 lb, portability definitely takes a back seat to stability and performance.

The suspension is quite firm. That’s great for controlled street riding but less impressive if you were hoping the aggressive design and big tires meant plush off-road capability.

High-speed riding drains the battery quickly. Our 12.7-mile full-performance result shows just how much additional energy it takes to ride near 30 mph. Fortunately, the optional expansion battery gives riders an upgrade path.

Who Should Buy the NAVEE XT5 Pro?

The XT5 Pro makes the most sense for someone who wants more speed and capability than a traditional commuter scooter without jumping all the way to a massive dual-motor performance machine.

Buy this if you want

  • Stability at higher speeds
  • Smooth acceleration
  • Strong hill climbing
  • Big tires
  • Safety technology
  • Premium convenience features
  • The ability to expand range later

Skip this if you want

  • Minimum weight
  • Maximum portability
  • Extremely long stock range at high speeds
  • Serious off-road capability

For city riding, though, the XT5 Pro feels very well sorted.

NAVEE XT5 Pro Review: Final Verdict

The NAVEE XT5 Pro finds a useful middle ground in the electric scooter market.

It’s substantially faster and more capable than a typical commuter, but it doesn’t have the size, weight, or sometimes intimidating power delivery of the biggest dual-motor scooters.

The 31 mph top speed is real. Boost mode makes a huge difference. Hill climbing is strong. The braking performance is better than expected. And most importantly, the XT5 Pro feels extremely stable and predictable when riding quickly.

NAVEE has also done a good job thinking beyond basic performance. Traction control, Fly Lock, Apple Find My compatibility, excellent lighting, turn signals, an optional fast charger, and expandable battery capacity all make the XT5 Pro easier to actually live with.

There are compromises. It’s heavy. The LCD could be brighter. Hydraulic brakes would be an upgrade. The suspension is firmer than the aggressive design might suggest, and riding flat-out will drain the 596Wh battery fairly quickly.

But if you’re looking for a fast, stable, technology-packed city scooter that delivers its performance without feeling wild or unpredictable, the NAVEE XT5 Pro is a compelling option.
