Geely has confirmed two significant new plug-in hybrid SUVs for Australia in 2027, including an 830kW Toyota Prado and Ford Everest rival that will be known locally as the Battleship 700.
The rugged Battleship 700 will arrive in the second half of 2027, while the more road-focused five-seat Monjaro EM-i family SUV is scheduled for the first half of the year.
Both are making their Australian public debut at this weekend’s Everything Electric show in Sydney alongside the previously confirmed Emgrand L EM-i plug-in hybrid sedan. Geely says the trio represents half of the six new models it plans to launch in Australia during 2027.

The announcement fills in some significant blanks in Geely’s aggressive Australian expansion plans. However, pricing remains a TBA.
The biggest news surrounds the Battleship 700, which is the production off-road SUV previously known as the Galaxy Cruiser 700.
Overseas, the Battleship 700 combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a 47kWh battery and three electric motors, producing a claimed 830kW. Australian specification is expected to be very similar and will be confirmed closer to its launch.
That puts the Battleship into the rapidly expanding field of electrified off-road SUVs taking aim at established large 4x4s such as the Toyota Prado and Ford Everest, as well as newer PHEV rivals including the Denza B5.
The Australian announcement confirms a claimed electric-only range of up to 170km, although Geely stresses that final local specifications will not be announced until closer to launch.
The Battleship 700 rides on 20-inch wheels and has 233mm of ground clearance and an 800mm wading depth. There is also a so-called ‘Waltz’ U-Turn function designed to give the big SUV very tight low-speed manoeuvrability.
Inside, equipment detailed for the overseas model includes 12.3-inch and 15.6-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, separate rear air-conditioning, a heating and cooling compartment in the centre console and a 23-speaker audio system.
The Monjaro EM-i is a very different proposition, sitting above the existing Starray EM-i as a larger and more upmarket five-seat family SUV aimed at the likes of the Toyota Kluger and the many other mainstream and premium models competing in the large SUV segment.
Its Australian arrival in the first half of 2027 is now officially confirmed after Geely had previously revealed only that a larger five-seat SUV was on its way.
Built on Geely’s newer GEA EVO architecture, the Monjaro combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors and a battery of up to 40kWh.
Geely is claiming as much as 170km of electric driving range and 1137km combined range on the WLTP cycle. Front- and all-wheel-drive configurations will be offered internationally, along with 19- and 20-inch wheels.
The Monjaro also gets Continuously Controlled Damping suspension and chassis tuning by Geely Technology Europe.
Cabin equipment includes a 15.4-inch central touchscreen, 25.6-inch ultra-wide head-up display, surround-view camera, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats and heated rear seats. Vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle capability of up to 6.6kW is also included.
The Monjaro name has been used internationally since 2021 for export versions of the Chinese-market Xingyue L, but this latest EM-i version is a substantial technical change, moving to Geely’s newer electrified architecture and plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
Geely’s third 2027 model on display in Sydney is the Emgrand L EM-i sedan, which was already confirmed for Australia earlier this month.
The three models form part of an unusually rapid expansion for Geely, which only returned to Australia as a factory-backed brand in 2025.
Its local range currently spans the EX5 electric SUV, EX2 electric hatch and Starray EM-i PHEV SUV, with more models due next year.
That expansion is being backed by rapidly increasing sales. Geely recorded 4504 Australian deliveries in August, placing it ninth among brands for the month. The EX5 contributed 1947 sales, while the EX2 and Starray EM-i recorded 1279 and 1278 respectively.
Geely says the Monjaro EM-i, Emgrand L EM-i and Battleship 700 account for three of six models it plans to launch in Australia during 2027, meaning another three vehicles remain to be fully detailed.
Geely is already taking $200 holding deposits for the Monjaro EM-i and Emgrand L EM-i until September 30. Customers are offered a complimentary EV home charger and premium paint upgrade, while Monjaro AWD customers are also offered a suede-like upholstery upgrade.
